Canadian Rangers, “Serving Canada since 1947” Who we are: The Canadian Rangers are a part of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reserves working in remote, isolated and coastal regions of Canada. They provide lightly-equipped, self-sufficient mobile forces to support CAF national security and public safety operations within Canada. They regularly train alongside other CAF members to remain prepared. Their motto is ‘Vigilans,’ meaning ‘The Watchers.’

Some of the ways they protect Canada include:
• Conducting patrols;
• Reporting unusual activities or sightings;
• Collecting local data for the CAF;
• Performing sovereignty or national security duties;
• Assisting in search and rescue efforts;
• Assisting with natural disasters such as forest fires and floods.

Sergeant Terry Fullerton, Patrol Commander of Swan River Manitoba patrol, Charlie Company, 4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group. I have been a Canadian Ranger for over seven years and have held all Patrol Positions as well a member of the Canadian Ranger Advisory Group.
I was born, raised in Swan River where I married my wife Melanie of 40 years and raised two children. I retired from the home electronics/cellular business in 2022 after over 42 years. My experience with the Canadian Rangers has more than exceeded any expectations. Thrilled to have participated in all seasons of Exercises in so many remote locations. Meeting, learning and working with so many interesting and talented individuals. I have so many incredible experiences and looking forward to the future.

Sergeant Fullerton’s Medals and Awards: Guard for the Governor General of Canada at 75th Canadian Ranger Anniversary, Guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Ottawa, Wilderness First Aid Instructor, Canadian Ranger Patrol Leadership Course Resolute Bay Nunavut, Special Services Medal , King Charles III Coronation Medal, Southern Cross Small Unit Exchange with Australian NORFORCE and Canadian Ranger of 2024.

We have 16 Canadian Rangers in the Swan River Valley male and female, all ages, some with full time jobs and some retired. They are support for the Canadian Armed Forces at the domestic level, they know the local area, they do ground search and rescue, evacuation, sandbagging, food delivery, surveillance in the North etc. They are not a clean up crew (to remove sandbags etc.) They are a group that must follow procedures (they cannot initiate any collaborations themselves) Municipal authorities contact EMO who talk with local politicians who contact the military who contact the Federal Government who contacts the local Municipal authorities again who contact the Canadian Rangers. It is a “BIG machine” to run. There is a Junior Ranger program for 12–17-year-olds, that can be accessed by Canadian Rangers – Canada.cab

Kent with Eclipse Fire and Safety brought a wealth of information regarding fire extinguishers.
PASS:
Pull the pin,
Aim at the base of the fire,
Squeeze the trigger and
Sweep the nozzle at the fire.

There is another good option for small fires-a fire suppression blanket.
