Helen Prieston, at 86 years young, has been a volunteer campground hostess at Whitefish Lake since 1990, dedicating 27 years of her life to serving the public.  <\/p>\n<p>Helen looks forward to serving the public every summer.  From May long weekend until September long weekend she is available so families can enjoy the many recreational opportunities our province has to offer.   Her role as a camp hostess is to greet and welcome campers and visitors and inform them of numerous activities and programs available to them.  As well, she assists campers in setting up their site and locating the firewood.  If any issues or concerns arise after work hours Helen notifies the park supervisors and she submits a weekly report to supervisors.  <\/p>\n<p>Helen is one of the founding members of the Whitefish Lake Association, established in 1990.  The association has made many improvements to the campground over the years. Some achievements include either building or acquiring donations for:<br \/>\n18 benches for the campground<br \/>\nA brand new floatable dock<br \/>\nA playground structure<br \/>\nA covered kitchenette<br \/>\nRenewing sand for the playground<br \/>\nAnd installing solar lights for the washrooms. <\/p>\n<p>Her passion for providing an inviting atmosphere for the public recognized throughout the area and her dedication is unmatched.  Helen even pays out of pocket expenses in order to travel out of the campground to get cell service to contact parks staff when concerns or emergencies arise after hours.<br \/>\nHer love for green space is evident as she has donated and planted numerous trees around the campground office.  <\/p>\n<p>Rick also stated in his private member\u2019s statement \u201cHelen you are an amazing and caring volunteer that goes above and beyond to serve the public \u2013 thank you Helen, for all you do for the people of Whitefish Lake it doesn\u2019t go unnoticed\u201d.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted by: Constituency Office of MLA Rick Wowchuk Rick Wowchuk recognized Helen Prieston with a private member\u2019s statement in March 2017.
