Whatever you choose to dress up as this Halloween, remember you are responsible for making safe choices. Trick-or-treaters, parents, homeowners and motorists all have a role to play when it comes to safety.
\n<\/br>
\nTrick-or-treaters can:
\n\u00b7 Trick-or-treat with an adult or a group of friends
\n\u00b7 Stick to a well-known area
\n\u00b7 Only visit well-lit homes and wait outside for treats
\n\u00b7 Wear bright-coloured costumes (even better if they are reflective!)
\n\u00b7 Avoid masks, as they can impair your vision. Try makeup instead!
\n\u00b7 Watch for cars pulling in and out of driveways
\n\u00b7 Cross streets at corners. Avoid zigzagging across the street
\n\u00b7 Be respectful of people and property<\/p>\n

Parents:
\n\u00b7 Inspect all treats before they are consumed
\n\u00b7 Any treats that look like they have been opened should be discarded immediately
\n\u00b7 Keep an eye on your children at all times and ensure they walk on the sidewalks or the side of the road
\n\u00b7 Don\u2019t let your child have homemade treats unless you know and trust who has provided them<\/p>\n

Motorists:
\n\u00b7 Drive with caution, as excited children can easily forget road safety rules
\n\u00b7 Take extra care backing out of driveways
\n\u00b7 Be patient
\n\u00b7 Slow down!<\/p>\n

Homeowners:
\n\u00b7 Ensure your doorway and home are well lit
\n\u00b7 Clear sidewalks and pathways
