A Special Meeting of Council of the Village of Benito was called
\nto order at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 27, 2013 in the Village
\nCouncil Chambers.
\nPresent – Mayor Meadows; Deputy Mayor Scouten; Councilor Zebinski; Councilor Offenberger
\nChief Administrative Officer – Pat Ellingson
\nAbsent with permission – Councilor Schneider<\/p>\n
Mayor Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

\nRESOLVED that the agenda for the Special meeting held on March 27, 2013 be adopted as presented.
\nCarried.<\/p>\n

\nOFFENBERGER
\nSCOUTEN
\nRESOLVED that pursuant to Section 152(3) of The Municipal Act, Council go into Committee of the whole and close the meeting to the public.
\nCarried.<\/p>\n

\nRESOLVED that pursuant to Section 152(4) of The Municipal Act, that this meeting be re-opened to the public.

\nWHEREAS in the Throne Speech in November of 2012 the Minister of Local Government has indicated that the Province
\nof Manitoba would work with municipalities to begin the process of amalgamations; and
\nWHEREAS the Province of Manitoba has stated that local governments are best positioned to shape these mergers, based on local circumstance, objective and needs; and
\nWHEREAS the Minister of Local Government has stated that legislation will reinforce and continue to promote that kind of local decision making;
\nTHEREFORE the Village of Benito, in consultation with the ratepayers of the municipality, have engaged in, and will continue the process of discussion with regard to the challenge of amalgamation.

\nRESOLVED that we do adjourn the Special Meeting of Council at 8:20 pm.
