\n\tWHEREAS the spring thaw and flood forecasts during the period of March 15, 2011 and April 15, 2011 resulted in a need to take preventative measures to protect private property and public infrastructure in the Town of Minitonas;
\n\tAND WHEREAS the municipality did spend a significant amount of funds on flood prevention as a result of advisories received from the Province of Manitoba;
\n\tTHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Town of Minitonas does hereby request that the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization provide \tdisaster financial assistance.

\n\tRESOLVED THAT controlled burning be authorized by Council on the properties listed on Schedule \u201cA\u201d attached hereto.

\n\tRESOLVED THAT we do hereby approve the temporary Water & Sewer Hook-Up on Lot 1 & 2 Plan 3131 as per the attached request, provided that a fee of $100.00 for the installation of the Meter and Service Connections.

\n\tRESOLVED THAT the Minitonas Town Council approves the purchase of up to $3000.00 for Dust Control Product from Fort Distributors Ltd.

\n\tRESOLVED THAT the Public Works Report for the month of April, 2011 shall be accepted as submitted by the Town Foreman, a copy of which is attached hereto.

\n\tWHEREAS the Public Works Employee Overtime Reports have been received & reviewed by Council;
\n\tTHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT all applicable overtime hours recorded for the month of April shall be paid out with the May 15th, 2011 payroll or booked for future use as indicated on the aforementioned reports, copies of which have been attached hereto.

\n\tWHEREAS the Town of Minitonas has received funding for a summer student under the HomeTown Green-Team Program;
\n\tTHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council agrees to hire Janel Sagert for the aforementioned position, with a start date of May 9th, 2011 and a completion date of August 31st, 2011;
\n\tBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the job description and wages shall be set in accordance with the application for funding under the Hometown Green-Team \tProgram, and all Workplace Safety and Health Regulations shall be reviewed with the successful candidate prior to beginning their employment.

\n\tWHEREAS, under the terms of By-Law No. 2\/2007, the attached property has become unsightly;
\n\tTHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the owner of the aforementioned property shall be given written notice advising that the condition of said properties shall be rectified by the deadline of May 31st, 2011;
\n\tBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, should the condition of the property not be corrected by the aforementioned deadline, the Town Council shall provide authorization for the work to be completed and the associated costs of said work shall be billed to the property owners accordingly.

\n\tWHEREAS Statistics Canada will conduct the Census of Population on Tuesday, May 10, 2011; and
\n\tWHEREAS the Town of Minitonas supports the census because census information is important for our community and is vital for planning services such as schools, daycare, police services and fire protection; and
\n\tWHEREAS the Statistics Act requires that personal information provided on census questionnaires will be kept strictly confidential; and
\n\tTHEREFORE, I, Henry Barkowski, Mayor of the Town of Minitonas do hereby declare the week of May 9 to 13 as CENSUS WEEK in the Town of Minitonas and \tcall upon all residents to complete and return their census questionnaires online at www.census2011.gc.ca or by mail, by Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
