A more responsive, streamlined regional health authority (RHA) system continues to take shape with the appointment of Penny Gilson as the chief executive officer for Manitoba\u2019s new Western Regional Health Authority. <\/p>\n

Gilson previously served as CEO with the Assiniboine authority. <\/p>\n

The other chief executive officers are:
\nHelga Bryant, Northern RHA \u2013 the former NOR-MAN and Burntwood RHAs
\nKathy McPhail, Southern RHA \u2013 the former RHA-Central Manitoba and South Eastman Health Authority.
\nJohn Stinson, Interlake-Eastern RHA \u2013 the former Interlake RHA and North Eastman Health Authority
\nArlene Wilgosh continues as CEO of Winnipeg RHA, which has assumed responsibilities for Churchill Health. <\/p>\n

The new Western RHA was created from the merger of the former Assiniboine, Brandon and Parklands health authorities as part of a provincial plan to reduce the number of RHAs in Manitoba from 11 to five. Manitoba Health anticipates a reduction of 30-35 corporate RHA positions across the province through the mergers, with these administrative savings redirected into supporting front line care.<\/p>\n
