{"id":1087,"date":"2011-04-27T11:41:15","date_gmt":"2011-04-27T16:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/swanriver.valleybiz.ca\/news\/?p=1087"},"modified":"2012-06-07T22:08:20","modified_gmt":"2012-06-08T03:08:20","slug":"swan-valley-rec-wellness-centre-update-april-27-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swanriver.valleybiz.ca\/news\/2011\/04\/27\/swan-valley-rec-wellness-centre-update-april-27-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Swan Valley Rec &#038; Wellness Centre: Update April 27, 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-438\" title=\"swrwc-small\" src=\"https:\/\/swanriver.valleybiz.ca\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/swrwc-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"202\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swanriver.valleybiz.ca\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/swrwc-small.jpg 202w, https:\/\/swanriver.valleybiz.ca\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/swrwc-small-67x75.jpg 67w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/>Swan Valley Recreation and Wellness Centre Media Release\u00a0|\u00a0Support for the Swan Valley Recreation and Wellness Centre is growing and the project has seen significant progress since the Public Meeting on March 21, 2011:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Approximately $73,000 has been pledged through the 2740 Club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; As part of the site preparation, the 2 houses on the building site are in the process of being dismantled and removed in accordance with LEED guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Participating municipalities are working on finalizing formulas for funding the projected operating deficit through property taxes.\u00a0 Surveys from the public meeting indicated over 90% of those who responded were &#8220;Agreeable to paying a portion of this project on property taxes based on numbers presented&#8221; at the public meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Overall the survey responses were very positive and one message came out loud and strong:<\/p>\n<p>Build it Now!\u00a0 Build it All!<\/p>\n<p>Survey comments included concerns that waiting to build portions of the facility may subject the project to an increase in construction costs and would have residents waiting for certain features.\u00a0 To complete the entire project as a one phase project, funding will need to be in place sooner.<\/p>\n<p>The project has received unprecedented government funding in the amount of $4.8 million with potentially an additional $2 million towards Phase 2.\u00a0 The Fund Raising committee is in the process of securing donations toward the $1.3 million corporate fund raising goal from several large corporations.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals can show their commitment to this project by stepping up with a financial contribution.\u00a0 For $1 a day individuals can join the 2740 Club.\u00a0 The $1 million individual fund raising goal will be met once 2740 members join.\u00a0 The sooner fund raising goals are met the sooner the entire facility can be built.
