Parkland Regional Health Authority Statement | The Parkland Regional Health Authority (PRHA) regrets to announce that Dr. Yusuf Kasim, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, has provided his two-week notice to cease service in the Region, effective October 18, 2011.

As indicated in our June 2011 media release, Dr. Kasim was recruited to the Region this summer to provide referring consultant services in both Swan River and Dauphin -from his home base of Swan River.

The PRHA strongly believes that a viable specialist practice is available within the Region. The PRHA, through its recently-established Regional Recruitment Committee, will be reviewing efforts, and work alongside the community, to recruit and retain a qualified physician complement to support Swan Valley Health Facilities and the Region as a whole.

The PRHA realizes that this may result in some unplanned suspensions of obstetrical service at Swan Valley Health Centre. We are continuing to explore all options, including locum physician placements, which may minimize and prevent disruption of service in the short term.
