Swan River RCMP Make Arrest in Multiple Thefts

RCMP Media Release |

On June 21, 2025, at 6:00 am, Swan River RCMP received a report of an attempted theft of vehicle in progress at a residence located in the RM of Mountain.

The caller stated he was awakened by someone outside his home. When he went out to investigate, he located an unknown male seated in his vehicle. When confronted, a scuffle ensued with the caller being stabbed. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers, along with EMS, attended to the scene and met with the victim who had suffered a non-life-threatening injury. He was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

Patrols in the area failed to locate the suspect.

Approximately 30 minutes later, officers received a report of a suspicious male attempting to steal items from vehicles in Bellsite. The suspect description appeared to match the suspect from the stabbing earlier.

While in Bellsite, officers were advised of a possible stolen vehicle located on a property on Mountain Avenue. In speaking with the property owner, he described the same suspect parking the truck at his home, where he left it running and walked away from the scene. A quick search of the truck led to the seizure of a knife believed to have been used in the stabbing earlier in the morning.

The investigation into these multiple reports of attempted thefts led to the arrest of a 34-year-old male later that evening when a caller reported a suspicious male being dropped off on Highway 10, near Bellsite.

RCMP have charged 34-year-old Clinton Duck, of Winnipeg, with numerous offences including Break and Enter, Robbery, Theft of a Motor Vehicle x2, Theft Under $5000 x2, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Obstruction and numerous Fail to Comply with Release Order Conditions. He was remanded into custody.

Swan River RCMP continue to investigate.
