Under the Direction of Julie Kooistra, the Swan Valley Community Band presented their Christmas Concert on Wednesday December 7, 2023 that
was held in the SVRSS Cafeteria. The “Halls were Decked with Music” for almost an hour.
Over the last 29 years, which also include those dreaded Covid19 ones, our membership has waffled between 15 and 34. One bright spot is those
numbers are rising since Covid devasted the World and our group. Numbering 21 we manage to have a sound bigger than we are. Parts are covered for missing instrumentation by whomever can manage it on one’s instrument, e.g. Tenor Sax playing Clarinet or Trumpet part; Trombone playing Baritone, Bari Sax, Bassoon or Bass Clarinet.
Even though our Percussion section may be small and twist into pretzels trying to cover the numerous parts, they always find time to add fun to our festivities, be it Santa Hats, or other costuming.
With a crowd of over 50, two of our members, Brenda & Gillian Hunt, lead everyone in Christmas Carols midway through the performance. And, following the performance, everyone got to enjoy Hot Cider & Christmas treats gratefully supplied by our membership.
And, every year ACCESSTV has been with us recording our Concerts for future presentation. We thank Kevin Penner for loyally supporting our program. An evening of social camaraderie enjoying good music, good food & happy visiting!
New Members are ALWAYS Welcome!
