The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 7:30 pm in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor Jacobson presiding along with Deputy Mayor Moriaux and Councillors Bobick, Boychuk, Medwid, Powell, and Whyte

8.1 Swan River Fire Department Pumper 1 Replacement

WHEREAS Swan Fire Department Pumper 1, a 1995 Spartan Metro, is currently outside of best practices and the age range recommended by recognised industry standards of the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 1901, 1911 and 1912 standards Annex D;
AND WHEREAS the Fire Underwriters Survey, the entity responsible for insurance ratings, recommendation for apparatus end of service period as it relates to insurance ratings proposes the replacement of apparatus to maintain equipment age requirements to maintain insurance standards;
AND WHEREAS the current manufacture timeframe for fire trucks is between 12 to 18 months;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Town of Swan River purchase a 2024 Acres VORTEX series Pumper Emergency Vehicle on a Freightliner M2-106 series chassis Fire Truck, including required equipment along with optional equipment as per Schedule A, from Acres Industries Inc. for the amount of $807,778.18 plus applicable taxes.
