Executive Summary of the

1. A number of staffing positions were filled since the last Board Meeting. The Division is still looking for a full time Band Teacher/Music Teacher at ÉSRSS. A number of Universities have been contacted to help in the search.

2. The Board will continue its program of offering incentives to Education students to do their teaching practicums in the Swan Valley School Division.

3. The Board passed a motion allowing a .50 position for the Swan Valley Teachers’ Association President. This .50 salary is paid for by the Local Manitoba Teachers’ Society Members and MTS Central.

4. The Board was informed that two Workplace Safety and Health Sessions have been set up for September 17th and 18th
Day 1 – Hazard Identification and Risk Control;
Day 2 – Supervisors and Safe Work

5. The Off Campus School held their Grad on June 7th. Twelve graduates received their mature high school student diplomas. A number of students also received a SUCCEED diploma. A big thanks to the Friendship Centre for allowing the Division to use space in the Centre and for conducting the Grad Ceremony and Banquet. Congrats to all the graduates. 9.5 Taylor School PAC – Playground Equipment
9.6 Annual SVSD/SVTA Collateral and Letter of Agreement
9.7 SVRSS – Cosmetology Award

Resolutions:
R1 D. Burghart, W. Schaffer:
THAT the Minutes of the special meeting of May 22, 2019 and the regular meeting of May 27, 2019, be adopted.

THAT the Report of the Superintendent/CEO, 8.1, be received and that the Board of Trustees reaffirm its intent to offer an incentive program to attract student teachers to complete their practicums in SVSD during the 2019/2020 School Year.

THAT as per Item 8.2.1, the Report on the SVTA President Release Time for the 2019/2020 School Year, be received and as per the conditions outlined, the Release be approved.

THAT the Staffing Report of the Superintendent/CEO, 8.2, as presented, be ratified.

R5 D. Burghart, G. Wowchuk:
THAT as per the Report of the Secretary-Treasurer, 9.2, general cheques numbering 54734 to 54833, B 761 to B 783 and transfers (bank fees) and EFT’s, which includes general and payroll in the amount of $1,749,123.35 for the month of April be approved for payment.

THAT as per Item 9.6, the Collateral Agreement and the Letter of Agreement between The Swan Valley School Division and The Swan Valley Teachers’ Association of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society, be received and subject to conditions outlined, signing authorization be approved.
