Prairie Mountain Health Update |
The Swan Valley Primary Care Centre (SVPCC) continues to review and implement ways to enhance services to residents of the Swan River Valley area.
The SVPCC is a collaborative care clinic.
Collaborative care is an approach that is used so patients/clients can see a physician —or other health-care professional —like a nurse practitioner.
Expanded Clinic Date
The SVPCC began offering advanced care clinics in early January 2018.
Up until now, these specific clinics have been scheduled on
Mondays from 4-7 p.m.
The Centre is pleased to announce that as a result of collaborative efforts with physicians and Prairie Mountain Health staff, another advanced care clinic day is being added to the weekly rotation beginning Thursday, May 3, 2018.
Therefore, beginning May 3, advanced care clinic days will operate on both Mondays and Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. for both days.
However, effective immediately, we ask that you do not present to the clinic prior to 3:45 p.m. for an advanced care clinic appointment. Due to high demand of appointments, registration will not take place prior to this time. It’s important that we are able to finish our regular clinic day prior to transition to the advanced care clinic.
Who or what is this advanced care clinic intended for?
The advanced care clinic provides medical care for acute conditions outside of regular clinic hours of operation. Some of these conditions include, but are not limited to:
Ear infections | High fevers | Respiratory problems | Bronchitis | Sore throat | Strep throat | Allergic reactions | Rashes | Bladder Infections | Colds/Flu | Strains/Sprains | Insect bites | Pink eye | Minor burns
Is it first come, first served?
No scheduled appointments will be made for the advanced care clinic. A physician and a nurse practitioner will be available. When you arrive at the clinic you will receive a number. Once the numbers have been given out, there are no further advanced care appointments available that evening. The patients will start to be seen at 4:00 pm. No appointment numbers will be handed out until 3:45 pm. When you present to the clinic, please see the administration to register your arrival and receive a number.
This is part of our continued efforts to enhance access to services as much as possible and work towards the right care being provided in the right place and at the right time. If a person believes their health concern requires immediate attention they should still visit their closest Emergency Room. If a person believes their condition is urgent/emergent they need to call 911 for an ambulance.
How long will it take to see a provider when I present to the advanced care clinic?
We will always have two to three providers at the advanced care clinic, however, we cannot estimate how long you may be in clinic.
Are we accepting new patients?
At this point, we still have health-care providers accepting new patients. If you are not registered with a health-care provider, please contact the clinic at (204) 734-6600.
