On Saturday September 24, 2016 the Bowsman United Church Quilt Group led a workshop “A Trip around the Quilt” at the Bowsman Legion Hall.

Sessions led by Group members provided an overview of the process of making a quilt from choosing fabric, cutting & sewing blocks, layering & quilting and the finishing binding. Local long arm quilter Dixie Thue took us through her process for custom machine quilting. The day was filled with fun, learning, fellowship and great food.
The highlight of any quilter’s gathering is a showcase of completed projects. Thirty quilts were layered on a bed, loaned by The Brick, for an old fashioned “Bed turning”. As each quilt was lifted from the bed its creator provided information about her/his work.
Bowsman United Church Quilt Group meets most Saturday mornings from fall to spring in the basement of the Bowsman United Church. Since the group’s formation over 150 quilts have been gifted to individuals in celebration of milestone occasions or in compassion when facing major life challenges.
