Team North, made up of players and coaches from Swan Valley, Dauphin, Ste.Rose, and Neepawa faced off against Team South made up of players and coaches from Moosomin, Shoal Lake, Virden, and Souris. Team South prevailed by a score of 32-14. Although the result might not have been what the team was after, the Swan Valley Tigers football team was well represented. Both Eric Klein and Brock Mullin took home Player of the Game awards for the North team. Klein caught 2 touchdown passes and accumulated over 100 yards receiving on the day, while Brock Mullin had 7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and a Quarterback Sack. Other tigers had a great showing as well, with Brendan Gilroy and Clayton Spencer having some big runs for Team North.
Head Coach Justin Petelski thought all of the players represented the Swan Valley very well and apparently so did some coaches and scouts. “I know for sure Eric Klein and Brendan Gilroy were contacted by the Winnipeg Rifles and invited to camp this week,” Petelski said. “That’s great for these guys and our program to let teams know we have a lot of talented players in Rural Manitoba. That is supposed to be the point to these events, honour these players for having a great season, and get them some exposure. Both were accomplished.”
