At approximately 4:14 pm on Thursday May 5, 2016 the Swan River fire department along with RCMP and Prairie Mountain EMS responded to a report of a structure fire in the Municipality of Swan Valley West.

Upon arrival the structure was fully engulfed with flying embers lighting the surrounding brush areas. Swan River Fire department personnel immediately instituted defensive attack procedures, concentrating on protecting exposures and the extinguishing of the brush fires while containing the structure fire.

Approximately three hours into the event all hazards were contained and brought under control.

At this time no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
