Service Canada is currently accepting applications for funding for the 2016 Canada Summer Jobs program.
Application period:
January 4, 2016 to
February 26, 2016.
Canada Summer Jobs is a Government of Canada initiative that provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping both students and their communities.
Eligible Employers & Funding Levels
Not-for-profit organizations: eligible for up to 100% of the provincial or territorial adult minimum wage and up to 100% of the mandatory employment-related costs.
Public sector employers: eligible for up to 50% of the provincial or territorial adult minimum wage.
Small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees across Canada: eligible for up to 50% of the provincial or territorial adult minimum wage.
Eligible Students
– Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
– Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
– Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
– Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Eligible Activities
– Provide a meaningful work experience in Canada;
– Do not contribute to the provision of a personal service to the employer;
– Offer a job from 6 to 16 consecutive weeks; and,
– Offer 30 to 40 hours of work per week
