Honourable Melanie Wight, Minister of Children & Youth Opportunities, was the guest speaker on this occasion. She spoke on the importance of recognizing and engaging all members of the community; youth, seniors, service organizations and providers, in creating better opportunities for youth in our Valley. Minister Wight also spoke of how SVCTC was a great example of how by working together we can strengthen our communities to be active partners in the important role of raising healthy children and youth.
Dr. Steve Feldgaier, Provincial Lead for CTC from Healthy Child MB., also presented at this AGM meeting. He provided a brief description of the CTC process and information and a video about the Five Towns CTC Coalition in Maine, USA.
Chair James Wigley showcased SVCTC’s past activities and partnerships within the Valley with a Power Point presentation. This presentation also highlighted SVCTC’s progress over the past year in meeting and creating a SV Community Action Plan. Following that presentation, a brief business meeting was conducted.
Communities That Care is a community–wide initiative to promote positive, healthy development of children and youth. The goal is to develop healthy lifestyles for all children and youth by providing opportunities, skills, and recognition within families, schools, communities and peer-groups. A great lunch was provided by the Qwik Stop to the enjoyment of all that attended.
SVCTC thanks all who attended this AGM meeting and looks forward to your support in promoting positive healthy opportunities for the youth of our Valley.
