The Valley Stage Players are deep in rehearsals for their major production “Hilda’s Yard” which will be presented on November 29 and 30, 2014 at the Veterans’ Hall in Swan River.

This year’s production is a comedy written by the talented and successful Canadian playwright, Norm Foster.
This play was only released for amateur production earlier this year so this will be one of the newest amateur productions in the country. This play is set in the mid-fifties and creates a nostalgic, humourous, and thoughtful look-back to a more innocent time. Yet we can see many connections between life then and now.
The story centres around a middle-aged couple who have finally been freed from supporting and housing their two adult children. They are now making fervent plans to enjoy the free life and “enjoy the spoils of a life of hard work!” Unfortunately, their plans are interrupted profoundly on one event-filled day that completely upsets the apple cart.
Five of last year’s cast return in this year’s production: Denis Beaudoin, Kimberley Knowles, Lisa Chan, Dave Sommerville, and Lloyd Gilchrist. One new cast member this year, Rhonda Mante, will be playing the leading role of Hilda. Returning as director this year is Rachel Puchailo.
Saturday, November 29 production will begin at 7:30 p.m and the Sunday, November 30 production will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at Home Hardware, Bee Gees, or at the door.
