The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor McKenzie presiding and Councilor’s, Delaurier, Friesen, Sakal, Bobick , Jacboson present. Councilor Whyte absent.

1. RESOLVED that the Minutes of the July 15th, 2014 regular meeting of Council be adopted as received.

3. Muscular Dystrophy is a group of neuromuscular disorders that have no known cure. In almost all cases, there are few treatments and no way to stop the disorder’s progression. Muscular Dystrophy Canada is a national, non-profit organization committed to funding research into the causes, treatments, and eventual cure of neuromuscular disorders, as well as providing services to people with neuromuscular disorders and public education.
WHEREAS: People today have the opportunity to live longer lives because of breakthroughs in Medical research, and;
WHEREAS: Muscular Dystrophy is a neuromuscular disorder that affects many and has no known cure, and:
WHEREAS: Only through the support of the community may a cure be found;
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Swan River, does hereby proclaim the month of September 2014 Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month in the Town of Swan River.

(1) General Accounts from Cheque No 15256 to No. 15415 for a total of $287, 392.10.
(2) Payroll Account from Cheque No. 3368 to No. 3376 for a total of $110, 869.25.

Councilor Sakal removed himself from the council chambers during the discussion and the passing of Resolution 10.

10. RESOLVED that William Sakal be permitted to move the house referenced in Schedule “A” to the lot on 213 – 6th Ave. N. All upgrades referred to in schedule “A” must be complete prior to this house being moved to town.

11. RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 152(3) of The Municipal Act, Council go into Committee and close the meeting to the public.
