Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd.Losing someone you love can affect you significantly at different times of the year. The first Holiday Season can be especially difficult when you are missing someone who made this time of year so special and enjoyable.
Every year, during the Holiday Season, Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd. holds a memorial service to help families going through this difficult time of year. This years’ service was held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
Despite the blustery weather, there was once again good attendance at this service. This is an emotional evening for the bereaved families but it is comforting to know that you are not alone in this journey. It has proven to be a valuable evening for the families served at Swan Valley Funeral Services and will continue to be an integral part of the aftercare given.
Words of support and comfort were given by Pastor Bob Lewis and Pastor Roy Jamieson and Ann Mateika shared her gift of music in leading the hymns on the organ. This year a video tribute was added to the program which played while the song “Angels Among Us” by Alabama played.
During the floral tribute,
each family was able to place a carnation (symbol of love) in a vase at the front of the chapel as their loved one’s name was read. After doing so, they received a glass angel with their loved one’s name on it to take home in memory of their loved one. When the last name was read there was an opportunity for anyone to come up and place a flower in memory of a loved one not mentioned during the service.
There was a time of fellowship and refreshment following the service where families were able to support each other through conversation.
Although the passage of time puts a distance between you and the days spent with your loved one, your memories of these moments will be with you forever. Cherish these memories and share them with others this Holiday Season.
