Proceeds Donated to the Minitonas Hall Renovation Project
A $300,000 – 2 or 3 Phase Minitonas Hall Renovation Project that includes:
– Relocating the Bar & Coatroom to the North Side of the building (the old library area) and creating a more modern bar with plumbing and storage.
– Increasing the capacity by 50 persons with the above relocation to accommodate 200 persons (current capacity is 150).
– Replacing the front deck and ramp with access that meets the current building code and enclose the area. This area can then be heated & cooled by the geothermal system installed a few years ago without increasing operating costs.
– Providing a covered patio area at the entrance and sidewalk-level access to the building.
– Upgrading the electrical system.
– Re-finishing the exterior of the building to update and enhance this important community meeting place.
– Expanding the building to the South to create a “Senior Centre” – this would provide local seniors with a central place to gather for activities and to socialize.
The Minitonas Age Friendly Committee have been hard at work with monthly ‘Coffee House’ events to assist in fundraising for this project. The Coffee House started in April this year, and has been a great way to gather young and old together – they group have successfully raised almost $2000 already!!
