On Friday May 24th, 2013 Swan Valley Communities That Care (SVCTC) hosted Dr. Karen Rempel from Brandon University at a luncheon meeting at the Super 8 Motel.
Over 40 community members attended her very informative session explaining the Vital Outcomes Indicators for Community Engagement (VOICE) presentation.
VOICE focuses on helping children and youth achieve success in their communities and the critical need for their success to be a community commitment.
Dr. Rempel addressed concerns about NEET youth and what the causes and effects are for these youth. (NEET stands for Not in Employment, Education or Training.) Her research also included statistical findings specific to the Swan Valley as well as provincial numbers.
Hearing about Dr. Rempel’s research and how it parallels SVCTC’s initiative of creating opportunities for positive development of youth and children was a great opportunity for all who attended this information session.
