Northwest Region
The week started cool with temperatures warming slowly over the weekend. Overnight temperatures were below zero for most of the week. Snow persists in fields in The Pas and some field edges/shelterbelts in the Swan Valley. Fields in the rest of the region are mostly saturated with some standing water in low spots. Warm, dry conditions are needed across the region. Limited seeding has started in the Ste. Rose/Dauphin area with select fields. Average soil temperature at most stations in the region remain cool in the single digits. Weed growth has started but has been slow with cool temperatures.
Weather Report
Little to no precipitation accumulated throughout the majority of agro Manitoba over the past week. The Eastern region had the highest
accumulations over the past seven days ranging from 0 to 3.2 mm. The highest amount of rainfall was observed at Sprague Lake at 3.2 mm.
Total Accumulation of Growing Degree Days shows the accumulated growing degree days (GDD) for the period of May 1 – May 10, 2026. GDD
accumulations ranged between 3 and 28 GDD so far this growing season.
Recent cool temperatures slowed accumulations of GDD.
