This year marks an incredible milestone for the Community Foundation of Swan Valley — reaching $5 million in donations. While the number itself is impressive, what truly matters is what it represents: over 20 years of generosity, partnership, and belief in the power of community.

Established in 2005 with a founding fund of $112,666, the Foundation gifted $1,400 back into the community in its very first year. What began as a modest start has grown into something extraordinary, thanks to the dedication and generosity of individuals, families, businesses, volunteers, and community organizations who believe in strengthening the place we all call home.

Over the past 20 years, that initial act of giving has multiplied into millions of dollars directed back into our communities. These funds have supported everything from recreation facilities and youth programs to arts initiatives, education, health projects, and community infrastructure.

Because of this incredible generosity, we will be gifting over $285,000 back into our community this year through scholarships, community grants, and directed giving. These funds will directly support local students, organizations, and projects that make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents across the valley.

Reaching $5 million is not just a financial achievement — it is a reflection of trust. It speaks to the confidence donors place in the Foundation to steward their contributions responsibly and to ensure funds are used where they are needed most. It represents countless volunteer hours, thoughtful planning, and the collaborative spirit that defines our community.

Most importantly, this milestone highlights the collective impact of many small acts of generosity. Whether it was a first-time donor giving $25, a family establishing a fund, or a legacy gift made in honour of loved ones, each contribution played a role in building something lasting.
