The Community Foundation of Swan Valley (CFSV) held their AGM and Fall Grant Night on December 4th, 2025 at the Westwood Inn. The 2025 fall grants were awarded to local community projects along with the presentation of Donor Advised Funds and Designated Funds.
Patti-Henkelman, Board Chair welcomed new board members Dean Caruk, Courtney Densen, Elaine Forsyth, and Jason Galbraith. She also extended sincere thanks to departing board members Rhodel Ferriss, Upendra Patel, Tanya Powell, and Darren Webster for their years of dedication and service to the foundation.
This year, the CFSV celebrates 20 years. Since its inception in 2005, the CFSV has distributed over $1,907,204 into the Swan Valley community, supporting all aspects of life. Another incredible milestone is also on the horizon as the CFSV get’s closer to reaching $5 million in donations — a goal made possible by the generosity of our community.
In 2025, the CFSV distributed over $257,263 in grants, scholarships, and bursaries. Congratulations to all of the 2025 fall community grant recipients:
Bowsman Early Learning Centre – Children’s Furniture $6,700
SVRSS Varsity Girls Basketball (SVSD) – Uniforms $2,000
Sunflower Early Learning Centre – Windows Replacement $8,000
Ecole Swan River South School (SVSD) – Milk and Canteen Cooler Replacement $2,500
Swan Valley Youth Baseball – Baseball Facility Improvements $9,500
Town of Swan River Recreation Department – SVCU Aquatic Centre CPR Equipment $1,300
Thunderhill Ski Club Inc. – Thunderhill Lodge & Trail Network (previously awarded – payment #5) $20,000
Communities That Care – Christmas Toy Drive Contribution (directed giving) $3,000
The evening ended with the presentation of the Heart of the Community Award, received by Phyl Friesen. This award recognizes the individuals whose dedication, compassion, and service make a meaningful impact in the Swan Valley. A total of $3,000 will be contributed toward local charitable projects in our community at her choosing.
