Swan River, Manitoba – Mayor Lance Jacobson today announced the immediate resignation of Councillor Tracy Boychuk from the Town of Swan River Council.

Elected in 2022, Councillor Boychuk was serving her first term on Council. During her time in office, she was the chair of the Recreation and Cultural Services Committee, where she championed numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. Most notably, she was a strong and vocal advocate for the development of a new arena.

“Tracy brought a spark to Council — a fresh voice with a deep care for our youth and the future of our town,” said Mayor Jacobson. “She had a unique ability to see potential where others saw challenges, and her passion for building a stronger community was evident in everything she did.”

While the Town regrets her departure, we respect her decision and thank her for her service.

The Town of Swan River will provide further information in the coming days regarding an upcoming By-Election to fill this vacant seat.
