Northwest Region
Spring operations are underway, with seeding having a good start in most areas of the Northwest region. Spring wheat seeding has begun across most of the region, apart from The Pas, which is anticipated to begin this week.

Fertilizer application and harrowing are also ongoing.

Wildfires in The Pas are a concern. Many other locations across the region are high risk and have a burn ban in place.

Fall rye and winter wheat continue to look good.

Provincial Overview
Agro-Manitoba received variable amounts of precipitation over the past four days. Precipitation for the past week ranged week from 0 mm to 12.7 mm with most regions receiving less than 0.5 mm. Virden (12.7 mm) received the most precipitation. Climate normals for total accumulated precipitation from May 1 to May 4 range from 0 mm to 12.7 mm and are based on 30-year historical data. Precipitation accumulation in most areas is far below normal precipitation since May 1. Parts of the southeast regions have accumulated more than 100% compared to the 30-year average.
