The Dolyna Ukrainian Dancers held their annual year end concert on April 12, 2025 at the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School gymnasium.

There was a great turn-out of family, friends and community members to enjoy the impressive display of athleticism, choreography and culture.

The event began with the procession of dancers and the Canadian and Ukrainian National Anthems. The Pryvit (Welcome) dance was performed by the Intermediate and Senior groups.

Paska, wheat and salt were then presented by graduating dancers, Grace Cowan, Trevor Halushka and Emily Mykula, to their parents who were the Hospydar and Hospydnya (hosts) for the evening.

The afternoon continued with performances by the Sadochuk, Beginner, Junior, Intermediate and Senior groups. A wide variety of dances including Polissia, Poltava, Buko and Volyn demonstrated the talent of these groups. There were also two solos by graduating dancers Grace Cowan and Emily Mykula showcasing 15 years of dancing experience each. The special guest dancers of the afternoon were the Dolyna Adult Ukrainian Dancers.

A special presentation was made acknowledging instructor Wynn Fedorchuk’s invaluable contributions to this year’s Dolyna Ukrainian Dancers. Wynn is not only talented in Ukrainian Dancing, but he also created an original pencil drawing of a Ukrainian headpiece. Entry for this special framed artwork draw was available at the year end concert. The draw will take place on May 10th at 5pm with all the proceeds being donated to the Dolyna Ukrainian Dance group.

A special presentation was also made to Surri Clouson and Samantha Ashcroft for their assistance throughout the dance season with the Sadochuk and Beginner groups.

A congratulatory gift and best wishes were extended to the three graduating Senior dancers – Emily Mykula, Grace Cowan and Trevor Halushka.

The finale was the Kolomeyka where all the current, past and future Dolyna Dancers were invited to the stage for another dance. During the Kolomeyka Wynn Fedorchuck and his brother amazed the crowds and inspired the younger dancers with their incredible skills.

It was another successful year end concert for the Dolyna Ukrainian Dancers. Thanks to all those who attended and showed their support for the dancers.
