Friday Drop In Curling Starts in Spite of Winter Storm

Submitted by: Kari Goethe

Friday, November 12 was the start of our Friday Drop in Curling night at the Swan River Curling Club. Considering it was a snowy day with terrible road conditions, we still had 24 people out for the first night.

There were juniors, seniors and everyone in between, but everyone seemed to enjoy the relaxed environment and had fun playing together. Groups of people made up their own teams and some just enjoyed practicing a bit. Most went upstairs after and enjoyed some socializing, food and drinks.

This is an excellent opportunity for the casual curler to come out and play during the winter and its also a great time for new curlers to come out and try the sport. It is also a good chance for families to do something together or for individuals or couples to have a night out!

There is no need to sign up just show up at the curling rink, but you may want to call the rink or check Facebook (Swan River Curling Club) to double check because there will be no drop in curling if there are bonspiels scheduled. As of right now, we know that there will be no drop in curling on Fri, Dec 10th.

Also just a reminder that it is $5.00/person and current Covid restrictions will need to be followed. We look forward to seeing more people out in the following weeks!
