Peace and Healing Experienced at Labyrinth Grief Walk

Submitted by: Kevin Sprong |

The Kenville Labyrinth Grief Walk took place on a glorious Sunday afternoon in perfect weather. Ten people took part on August 23, 2020, which was about as many as could be accommodated without being crowded.

It was explained that as the winding walk reached the outer perimeter walkers were invited to reflect on activities they missed and as the walk meandered to the centre they were invited to reflect on some of the emotions they had experienced. The labyrinth was divided into the four quadrants of the Medicine Wheel where flags indicated the areas that might prompt reflection on Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual aspects of what they had already been through. Above all, the participants were invited to trust their own questions and suggestions that arose on the walk, as these were more important to their particular and unique healing process.

No feedback was invited since this was an intensely personal time. Still, walkers were able to indicate that they had felt peace in some instances, had questions settled in others and still others indicated new directions opening up. It was a good day!
