On July 5, 2020, at approximately 1:20 am, RCMP responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision on Highway 10, north of Road 218 N, approximately 6 km north of Swan River.
A vehicle was travelling northbound on Highway 10, when it collided with a pedestrian. The 30-year-old female pedestrian from Swan River, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Saskatchewan, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Officers believe that the female pedestrian was an occupant in a vehicle that had run out of fuel. That vehicle was parked on the side of the highway. It is believed she may have been attempting to flag down a passing vehicle when the collision occurred.
Swan River RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
