The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, August 6th, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor Jacobson presiding and Councillors Delaurier, Friesen, Moriaux, Whyte, Wintoniw and Gray present.

7.2.1.1 Resolution in support of Rail safety Week
Whereas Rail Safety Week is to be held across Canada from September 23 to 29, 2019;
Whereas it is in the public’s interest to raise citizens’ awareness of the dangers of ignoring safety warnings at level crossings and trespassing on rail property to reduce avoidable deaths, injuries and damage caused by incidents involving trains and citizens;
Whereas Operation Lifesaver is a public/private partnership whose aim is to work with the public, rail industry, governments, police services, media and others to raise rail safety awareness;
Whereas has requested Town Council adopt this resolution in support of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness, save lives and prevent injuries in communities, including our municipality;
It is hereby RESOLVED that the Town of Swan River Council supports National Rail Safety Week to be held from September 23 to 29, 2019.

Donation request – Swan Valley Stampeders

WHEREAS the Swan Valley Stampeders Junior “A” Hockey Club (“the Club”) have a Management Agreement with the Town of Swan River (“the Town”) to manage the Resource Room Lounge at the Swan River Centennial Arena;
And WHEREAS the Club is required to provide 80% of the profits of the Lounge to the Town who is the licensee of the facility at all Swan Valley Stampeders games and events;
And WHEREAS the Club has requested that the profits from the Lounge be donated back to the Club;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Swan River donate any profits, excluding any arena costs, received from the Centennial Arena Resource Room Lounge, during Swan Valley Stampeders games and events, back to the Swan Valley Stampeders Junior “A” Hockey Club each during the 2018 – 2019 season and the 2019-2020 season provided the Club has fulfilled all requirements as set out in the Management Agreement as well as have no outstanding balance owing the Town.

RESOLVED that the Town accept the quotation submitted by Redline Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Ltd. for a 2019 Dodge Caravan CVP in the amount of $31,264.85 plus applicable taxes;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town accept the quotation submitted by Capital GMC Buick Cadillac for a 2019 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton in the amount of $28,575.00 plus applicable taxes.
