The Stamps’ unbelievable season came to an end Monday night in Portage, as Reece Henry would score the series clinching goal 5:26 into overtime to claim the Turnbull Cup.


The Terriers would open the scoring in game 7, as Sam Houston would let a wrist shot that beat Merek Pipes high glove at 8:18 of the first period.

Matt Osadick would snipe a beauty on the power play for his 10th of the playoffs 6:26 into the middle frame. Chase Brakel would regain the Terriers lead just over two minutes later and Portage held a 2-1 lead after forty minutes of play.

A single word that has been instilled on every Stampeder fan across Canada this year, came to fruition late in the third. The odds were stacked against Swan River late in the game as they found themselves short handed with 53 seconds left and down one goal.

The Stampeders pulled their goaltender and Matt Osadick, would score on his own rebound with 7.3 seconds left in the third, sending the championship game to overtime.

Despite constant pressure by the Stampeders early on in overtime, it was a blocked shot that lead to an offensive break. Reece Henry would grab the loose puck and drive to the net, sliding home the game winner with 4:34 left in overtime, and the Terriers would claim the 2019 Turnbull Cup.

The Stamps’ epic playoff run, and season ended in the way that no player – or fan for that matter – ever wants to experience, losing in overtime in game 7 of a championship series. With that being said, the accomplishments the team, and organization made this year are extraordinary, which is something to be very proud of.
