The teams that participated in the Peewee A1 Tournament Tournament on February 22-24, 2019 were Swan River, Dauphin, The Pas, Flin Flon, Yorkton, Moose Lake, Snow Lake/Gillam.
The Peewee A1 Stampeders had played a very good tournament on the weekend. Our first game on Friday was against the Flin Flon Bombers. The teams battled hard and the Stampeders ended up coming out on top with a score of 8-4. Goals from Carson Chartrand, Brock Gosselin(2), Carter Addis, Tucker Thompson(2), Christian Hart and Payton Thompson. Saturday morning we were up against Moose Lake. This tournament was the first for Moose Lake this year as they had just formed the team 2 months ago. After the first two periods the Stampeders were up 4-0, but Moose Lake turned it on in the third and would answer back getting 4 goals in the third period. The Stampeders would dig deep and score 3 goals before the period was done to make the final 7-4 in favor for the Stamps. Goals were from Carter Addis(2), Brandon Grazier, Tucker Thompson, Dax Mullin, Christian Hart, Ashton Cochrane. The Stamps would finish the round robin with 2 wins and would end up second in their pool and would face Dauphin for the semi final game Saturday evening.
The Semi Final game would start out with a score of 2-1 after the first with the only goal coming from Tucker Thompson. The Stamps just couldn’t put anymore pucks in the net and the final score would end up being 6-1 for Dauphin. The Stampeders would then compete for the B Final against The Pas Huskies. Sunday morning would bring a very tight matched game against the Huskies, with play going end to end. The final score would be 3-1 for the Stampeders with some awesome saves from our goalie James Parsons. The goals came from Tucker Thompson, Carter Addis and Payton Thompson would put the final puck in the back of the net to seal the win. Everyone on the Peewee team contributed points for the weekend.
The C Final was between Moose Lake and Flin Flon, which Moose Lake won their first ever banner with a score of 5-4. The B Final was won by our own Swan Valley Stampeders by a score of 3-1 against The Pas Huskies and the A Final match up was Yorkton against Dauphin, which was in the favor of Yorkton with a score of 7-0.
I would like to thank everyone for coming out this past weekend to cheer on the team. The players always look forward to playing at home in front of their family and friends. We had great crowds for the our home games cheering on the team. The team has worked hard all winter and have improved significantly over the course of the winter. Overall the tournament went very well and ran smooth. Our parent group did a great job helping out and making it a great weekend.
For the Peewee A1 team this was our final tournament of the year and now the players will go back to their own league teams and get ready for league playoffs that will start in a week.
