4.1 Delegation: SLWCD – Don Bobick, Walter Kolisnyk and Stephanie Reid
Don, Walter and Stephanie of the Swan Lake Watershed Conservation District (SLWCD) provided council with an update about the Province’s proposed changes to the conservation district program.  These include a new funding model and a new program called GROW.  SLWCD is concerned that funding will be reduced and that local control and grassroots involvement will disappear.  SLWCD along with other conservation districts have been voicing their concerns to the Province.

4.2 Delegation: Chamber of Commerce – Johnny Wintoniw, Stacy Grindle and Naomi Neufeld
Johnny, Stacy and Naomi of the Swan Valley Chamber of Commerce presented a proposal to council.  The Chamber would like to try a 3 year pilot project using the funds raised by the Town’s business tax.  They would use these funds to assist with tourism (which currently is 80% of the work done by Chamber staff) and to create new initiatives such as more workshops, training and development, business attraction and mentorship, research  and development of eco-tourism and indigenous tourism, beautification (downtown flowers, signs etc.) and more.
