The Minitonas Hall recently received some significant upgrades and the new kitchen is definitely the star of the show.

The kitchen was completely gutted and re-designed to create a beautiful and functional space.

The kitchen features new cupboards, shelving and movable island work spaces as well as a new full fridge, fridge freezer combo, 2 new stoves, a new commercial dishwasher and an air conditioner.

The rest of the hall was updated with a fresh coat of paint, new lighting, ceiling fans and new flooring including shuffleboard inlays.

The renovation also included opening up the coatroom, expanding the ticket and bar windows. Access was also created to the next door marketplace which features overflow seating and a wheelchair accessible bathroom and baby changing station.

The Municipality of Minitonas-Bowsman oversaw the upgrades and formed a committee of 3 council members, 4 community members and the Chief Administrative Officer for the project. A questionnaire was also mailed out to help determine the scope, cost and features of the project.

The total budget for the hall renovations was $160,000. The municipality is still waiting on a few final invoices before the actual cost can be calculated. The municipality received a $40,000 grant from Community Places and had $36,000 in reserves from community fundraising, (coffee houses, Minitonas Lions Club etc.). The remaining portion is being paid for from Community Development Initiative dollars (Hydro Bipole).
