Questions have been raised regarding the status of the Municipality of Swan Valley West’s Reeve after a January 26, 2017 facebook post by CJ104 Radio stated “Credible sources indicate that earlier today, Reeve Verne Scouten tendered his resignation.”

The media spokesperson from the Municipality of Swan Valley West confirmed in a statement to ValleyBiz that Reeve Verne Scouten has not resigned.

According to the Municipal Act of Manitoba, “The resignation of a member must be in writing and given to the chief administrative officer.” The spokesperson confirmed there has been no such submission.
