It was a beautiful fall day when things the doors opened at the Bowsman Curling Rink for the Old West Saloon and Kal Tire Cowboy Steak BBQ.
MC for the BBQ was Ken Thompson who was accompanied by Brittany Moore. Other performers included Glen Audy, Katie & Jenna Smith, Tara Enns, Austin & Ryan Keown, Keara Pierrepont, and Jesse Genaille.
Attendees also enjoyed a mouthwatering steak supper served and prepared by the Bowsman Lions, the Kal Tire staff, and many other volunteers.
Fireworks then filled the air at the Bowsman Arena as announcer Emery Erickson started our biggest show yet. Competitors from the Canadian Cowboys Association and Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association rode in the Saddlebronc, Bareback, and Bullriding events on stock provided by Prime Time Rodeos.
Holden and Ryder Fullerton from Swan River rode in the Mini Bucking Ponies event along with some of the young competitors from Alberta who have competed in the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
Then there was some “double trouble” with the bulls during the “Kal Tire” Free Style Bull Fighting event.
Some of those competitors had close calls when they got roughed up by the bulls.
Bowsman Lion Albert Outhwaite also presented a cheque for $120 000 for the purchase of heart monitor equipment to the Swan Valley Health Centre on behalf of the Bowsman Lions Club and the Swan Valley Health Foundation.”.
