They opened on Saturday morning in the rain vs the Brandon-based Westman team. They trailed 2-0 at the half and lost by a 5-0 score. Their second game was against Kenora, ON. The club once again fell behind and trailed 3-0 at the half. The team played a great second half and dominated play but couldn’t beat the Kenora goalkeeper. The final score was 4-0.

Sunday morning they played a co-ed team from Nelson House. Nelson House opened the scoring midway through the first half, converting on a goal mouth scramble. Shortly before half time Mya Kubrakovich took a free kick from just inside mid-field. Mya hit her “sweet spot” and fired one towards the top corner. The keeper, with outstretched arms, got her fingertips on the ball but couldn’t handle the powerful shot as it found the back of net to tie the score at 1-1.

The second half saw the Predators continuing to ramp up their intensity and gradually begin controlling the play for long stretches. They couldn’t “find the twine” again and had to settle for a 1-1 tie to finish the tournament.

The girls had a great time, made new friends, and clearly improved over the course of the weekend. The coaching staff had minor concerns that the players had as much fun in the pools and on the trampolines! They have planted the seeds for this group to consider 3 tournaments in 2017. A big thank you to coaches Derek Boychuk and Michelle Seversen and to our sponsors that provided some of the sharpest uniforms in the tournament.
