On March 7, 2016 Swan Valley students in grade 7-12 along with their parents a presentation that offered great information on the media coined term “sexting”.


The information night was presented by the Swan Valley School Division, in partnership with the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit, Swan Valley Communities that Care and Committee for the Elimination of Sexual Abuse.

This presentation walked youth through the common traps of social media and how youth and parents can safeguard their information. The RCMP ICE officer informed the youth of typical cases in Manitoba and how these situations could be avoided. Youth are more connected than ever and there are legal and emotional consequences of this connectivity. The RCMP ICE unit are dedicated to keeping children safe while connected and a few tips to youth and parents can go a long way by making small changes.
