The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor McKenzie presiding and Councilors, Jacobson, Moriaux, Friesen, Whyte, Delaurier & Sakal present.

Fire Chief Fedorchuk presented his report.
In the months of September and October the SRFD responded to 15 calls.
10 responses were within Town limits, 3 responses were in the Municipality of Swan Valley West, 2 responses were in the Municipality of Minitonas-Bowsman.
Currently the SRFD has responded to a combined 80 calls at a total of 1467 man hours.
Last year at this time the SRFD responded to 75 calls for a total of 1159 man hours.
Training is ongoing and to date SRFD firefighters have a combined 1674.50 hours of training which includes online, MESC and in house sessions. Upcoming sessions include scenario based response training in which firefighters respond to simulated scenarios testing skills and response procedures. These include simulated structure and vehicle fires along with responses to preplanned locations.
Also on the training agenda is a peer driven course offered by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs to be held in Dauphin in November. Beyond Hoses to Helmets is an officer development program with topics in Leadership, Training, Recruitment, Retention, Branding/Marketing and is delivered by active fire chiefs from across the provinces.
Department members have recently concluded the annual October fundraising drive for cancer with the Pink Shirt sales and Boot Drive and are just starting the Movember campaign.
With our district partners in the SVMAD we are currently engage in budget exercises, discussions for response tactics and public education opportunities.
Fire inspections are ongoing with the required annual inspections starting this month.
The old Kinsman Pool pump building is now in use with some minor changes yet to be completed.

4 full time physicians: 3 are accepting new patients
3 are in training in cancer care.
This is not considered a walk-in clinic
Still dealing with parking issues
The clinic has a couple of new services –A person from The Alzheimer’s Society and a person from Cancer Care MB comes in regularly to provide support services
PMHA is assisting in getting the clinic set up on their website.
The nurse practitioner is still in training.
