Saturdays weather was an absolute beautiful setting for a terrific football game. With both teams taking the field and bleachers full of fans we stood at attention to a fantastic rendition of O’Canada, sung by two local entertainers.

As the whistle blew we were underway. Tigers defense did a good job holding Dauphin back, giving our offense a chance to put some distance on the field.

Throwing the ball for the Tigers was Grade 12 player, #11 Brendan Friesen. #32 Gilroy, #20 Seib , #25 Spencer and, #88 Klein did all they could to put some points on the board.

After about 25 minutes of play The Tigers took first blood and we were underway 7-0 for the Tigers. This lead lasted through half time and into the third quarter. The Clippers defense picked up their game and did some fantastic blocking of our offense.

As they gained momentum they covered the field and ran the ball for a touchdown, after the covert attempt was good – the score was 8-7 for the Clippers. As both teams battled, and some touch calls were made the score kept going back and forth until we found ourselves with three plays left and a tie score 16-16. As clock wound down the fans and players were nervous …we were going into over-time!

As both teams had three downs to score points the Tigers started at the 35 and after three plays, gained few yards and made no points.

When the Clippers were given the same opportunity, our defense fought hard. The Clippers gained some yardage and on their final down kicked the ball into the end zone, gaining them the one point they needed to claim the Provincial Championship.

As the Dauphin Fans burst with excitement, the Tigers on the field and their dedicated fans were faced with a heart wrenching loss…the only one of the season.

Thank You to the coaches and everyone who worked closely with our children to help develop skills and respect on and off the field. A great season of football with a record of 7-0 in the regular season, makes you all winners.
