The Manitoba government is investing an additional $500,000 to facilitate completion of Swan River’s Richardson Recreation and Wellness Centre, Municipal Government Minister Drew Caldwell announced.
Minister Ron Kostyshyn (right) announced the funding with Mayor Glen McKenzie (left) during an event at the Town of Swan River Office on August 28, 2015.
“The value of investing in recreational facilities for rural Manitoba cannot be underestimated,” said Minister Caldwell. “I am pleased our government has seen this project through to completion and to know it is now fully accessible for the people of Swan River.”
The Richardson Centre is a multi-million-dollar facility, consisting of an aquatic centre with a junior Olympic-size pool, family-friendly leisure pools, along with a party room and viewing terrace.
“This state-of-the-art facility is a real source of pride for the community,” Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Minister Ron Kostyshyn said today at an event on behalf of Minister Caldwell. “This investment ensures Swan River families will be able to access all the wonderful programming that originates from this centre for years to come.”
The additional provincial investment for this project comes from the Municipal Recreation Fund. In total, the province has provided $3.4 million toward the Richardson Centre.
