Town of Swan River Minutes – August 4, 2015

The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor McKenzie presiding and Councilors Whyte, Sakal, Moriaux, Friesen present. Councilor Delaurier and Jacobson were absent.

Delegation:

Ron Lewicki, Building Inspector regarding a proposed change to the Town of Swan River zoning by-law to allow for basement suites in residential zones.

Minutes:

1. RESOLVED that the Minutes of the July 21st, 2015 regular meeting of Council be adopted as received.
Carried.

2. RESOLVED that the Agenda for the August 4th, 2015 regular meeting of Council be received.
Carried.

3. RESOLVED that the letter of resignation from the position of Lifeguard (attached as Schedule “A”) submitted by Brandi Fullerton be received.
Carried.

4. RESOLVED that the Town authorize the Swan River Lions Club to host a dog walk on behalf of the Lions Dog Guide Program of Canada on October 3, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Legion Park.

5. RESOLVED that the Swan River Fire Department July 2015 Call Report be received.

6. RESOLVED that the following Building Permit Application be received.

7. RESOLVED that Ori Leblanc, Ben Burick, Chandra Chambers, Brynn Sabiston and Madison Pierrepont be hired as casual Lifeguard/Instructor for the Swan Valley Credit Union Aquatic Centre effective August 4th, 2015.

8. RESOLVED that the Swan River Municipal Developers Audited Financial Statements for the year ended December 31st, 2014 and prepared by Pacak Kowal Hardie & Co. be received.

9. RESOLVED that the Swan Valley Settlement Services July 2015 Report be received.
Carried.

10. RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Works Report be received.
Carried.

11. RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 152(3) of The Municipal Act, Council go into Committee and close the meeting to the public.
Carried.

12. RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 152(4) of The Municipal Act this meeting be reopened to the public.
Carried.

13. RESOLVED that Duane Whyte be appointed as a Town of Swan River representative to the Safehouse Committee.
Carried.

14. RESOLVED that this regular Meeting of Council now adjourn.
