The Swan Valley Communities That Care (SVCTC) Board have developed a logo to identify our youth initiative.
The SVCTC Public Relations (PR) Sub-committee with assistance from SVRSS Visual Arts teacher George van der Walt and student Brett Betcher were instrumental in the design of this logo.
SVCTC is working to achieve the community’s vision for ‘safe, healthy children and youth through an involved and committed community.’
SVCTC is an evidence based, community wide initiative which aims to increase positive factors for youth. The system provides strategic consultation, training, and research-based tools to help the community work together to promote positive development of children and youth and the prevention of adolescent problem behaviors. SVCTC is a community– wide initiative to promote positive, healthy development of children and youth, and to ensure Valley youth have access to opportunities, skills and recognition within families, schools, communities and peer groups.
This logo represents:
• the different types of families, ethnicities and many cultural backgrounds with the colourful people figurines representing the diversity of all participating in this SVCTC initiative – youth, seniors, community members, groups and agencies. The figurines have their arms uplifted, reaching up and out to include all in our community to create positive futures and community mobilization for Valley youth; and
• the skyline shows the many types of homes, apartments and businesses that make up our community – connected and working to uplift each other – as well as our rural and agricultural roots. Within this is an elevator line drawing representing the agricultural base that makes up our community.
Volunteers are welcome on all of our committees. We are always searching out talent for our sub-committee work. These committees include: Public Relations and Communications, Funding& Finance, Board Maintenance & Policy Data/Survey, Evaluation and our Youth sub-committee. If you have any questions or would like to become involved in this Swan Valley youth initiative, please contact the SVCTC Coordinator Beverley Polon at 734-3518 or 734 8138.
