On May 21, 2015, at approximately 8:30 pm, Swan River and Winnipegosis RCMP executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant on a marihuana grow operation at a residence and property located in Rural Municipality of Mountain, just west of Cowan, Manitoba.

Officers entered the property and dismantled the grow operation. Police seized 164 marihuana plants, a quantity of harvested marihuana and various drug paraphernalia. A total of 7 firearms were also seized from the residence.

Carol Marie Dutchak, 60, of the R.M. of Mountain, was arrested and charged with Production and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking, as well as 5 firearms related charges. Clayton Patrick Dutchak, 34, was also arrested and charged with Production and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking, as well as 7 firearms related charges. Both have been released from custody and will appear in Swan River Provincial Court on June 17, 2015.
