Swan River hosted the annual Swan River Legion Novice tournament on the weekend of Jan 30 – Feb 1, 2015 at the Centennial Arena. Pictured left are the A side champs -Thompson Ice Wolves & the Pas Huskies White team A side runner ups.

Swan River Blue were “C” finalists posting a 1-2-1 record. They opened with a 7-7 tie vs The Pas Huskies White. On Saturday they earned a 4-2 victory over the Dauphin Cobras, before falling to the Flin Flon Vipers 9-1. In Sunday’s “C” final The Pas Huskies Red won with a 9-4 final.

Brady Burghart led the team in scoring with 9 goals, Landon Stevens and Comrie Quill each had a pair.

The Swan River White Stampeders posted a 2-2 record on the weekend and were “B” finalists. They opened with a 12-0 victory over the OCN Blizzard on Friday. Saturday afternoon they defeated The Pas Huskies Red 6-2 before losing to the Thompson Ice Wolves 7-0. On Sunday they lost to the Flin Flon Vipers 7-6 in a shootout.

Leading scorers on the weekend were Jackson Badowski with 8 and Eli Betcher with 6.

Some amazing community fan support was enjoyed by the participants from family, friends, and a Taylor School field trip group.
