A highly successful Depression Recovery Seminar will be held in Swan River starting at the end of September. This is an international program that has been held in many parts of Canada and the United States for more than 6 years.
Information Meetings – Monday September 22, 2014
Swan River Public Library
at 2:30 pm
Swan Valley Health Centre
(2nd Floor Conference Room C)
at 7:00 pm
The Seminar is designed to help people who are struggling with depression, but is open to anyone who wants to attend, especially those who would like to know how to help a family member or a friend.
Participants will receive 16 hours of classroom education/group discussions, peer support, textbooks and workbooks, and will hear (via video) from people who reclaimed their lives from major depression. Meetings will be held once a week at the Swan Valley Health Centre.
Topics will include identifying depression and its causes, lifestyle effects (exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress, etc.), avoiding negative thinking, dealing with emotions, living above loss and how to improve brain function.
The Depression Recovery Program is being coordinated by the local Adventist Church. (For more information contact Dave at 734-4868.) This Program is funded, in part, by the Community Foundation of Swan Valley, Inc.
