RCMP Media Release |

On July 26, 2014, just after midnight, Swan River RCMP responded to a report of a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 10 and Provincial Road 150 West, near Minitonas, Manitoba.

Initial investigation shows a female pedestrian was on Highway 10 attempting to flag down a westbound car to ask for a ride. When she entered the roadway, she was struck by the car. Local EMS treated her on scene and transported her to Swan River Valley Health Centre, where the 28-year-old female from Minitonas was pronounced deceased.

The 32-year-old male driver from Brandon and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The driver was not intoxicated. Alcohol appears to be a factor for the pedestrian.

The name of the deceased will not be released.
